If you have sensitive skin, you know how difficult it can be not only to get into a routine that works for you but to find products that are effective and don’t irritate your skin. Constantly having to be careful about what products you apply to your face can make life stressful and difficult, but it doesn’t have to be. When you find the right products, it’s easy to soothe your skin and keep it clear and beautiful! Many people with sensitive skin find that Korean skincare products offer relief and effectiveness thanks to their much gentler formulas and more natural ingredients.
If you’ve never tried Korean skin care products for sensitive skin, this is your sign to do so! Here, we’ll be going over some things that can help sensitive skin as well as an outline for a complete Korean skincare regime.
Tips for sensitive skin
In addition to using beauty and skincare products specially formulated for sensitive skin, there are some other things that can be done to keep your skin calm and reduce symptoms.
- Avoid long, hot showers: Hot water already breaks down skin’s lipid barrier, and skin that’s sensitive often has more of a reaction to heat exposure. Long, hot showers will typically leave skin looking red and feeling irritated, so take shorter showers with cooler water.
- Get to know your triggers: There are a variety of triggers for sensitive skin, and the things that cause your skin to get red, itchy, and irritated can be different from that of others. Some of the most common triggers are harsh chemicals, seasonal changes, pollution, dehydration, hot water, stress, and lack of sleep. Getting to know these things will help you avoid them, ensuring your hard work using a complete Korean skincare regime for sensitive skin isn’t set back by one of these environmental or lifestyle triggers.
- Avoid harsh chemicals and artificial fragrances: Harsh chemicals and artificial fragrance damage the skin’s lipid barrier and negatively impact its health. People with all skin types should avoid both but especially those with sensitive skin. You’d be surprised just how many beauty and skincare products contain these damaging ingredients, but you can rest assured that K-beauty products, whether they’ve been specially formulated for sensitive skin or not, don’t.
- Apply sunscreen every day: Applying SPF daily is a part of a complete Korean skincare regime for all skin types. However, this is even more important for those with sensitive skin because sensitive skin is more responsive to the sun’s UV rays. When shopping for sunscreen, remember to avoid products that have chemical UV blockers.
